Applied research and science are combined with contemporary teaching in the competence center tribology. The focus of the interdisciplinary scientific work is the research and optimization of tribological systems, based on practical model and component testing technology.

The Tribology Competence Centre offers cooperation partners independent advice on tribological issues. This means, in concrete terms, that the solution or optimization can be:
· constructive measures,
· improved lubrication and/or lubricants,
· more suitable materials,
· coatings or
· achiving targeted surface modification
