New materials are the drive for new methods of production and products. Furthermore new materials essentialy contribute the lowering of costs in the production. At least 50 percent of the costs of the production at the manufacturing industry result from the material. Therefore savings through efficent use of resources can be an immense advantage in competition.
With the supporting program WING (Material innovation for industry and community) which started early in 2004, the Department of Education and Research (BMBDF) wants to give new impulses to the interdisciplinary aimed material engineering. As well the classic material development, the material oriented chemical technologies as the nanotechnology material concepts going to push the industrial development and flower out their synergy effects in the program.
