Wear protection for components

The economic loss by friction and wear costs billions a year only in Germany. Meanwhile the demands on mechanical devices rise continuously: higher manageable forces simultaneously with a light construction and a higher expectation for the life span are required more and more often.

The function separation of a low friction, wear-resistant coating and a light, ductile base material allow a connection to durable, low-maintenance or maintenance-free components with a low weight or further specific attributes.

The workgroup "Wear protection of components" deals with problems and topics based on tribology and anti-corrosion. Your contact person is Dr.-Ing. Jochen Brand at the Fraunhofer IST.
