Much light from nano-wires - light emitting diodes should replace lamps




In an European Union-promoted research project the institut for semiconductor technology of the technical University of Braunschweig develops energy-saving white light emitting diodes. Under the direction of OSRAM Opto Semiconductor GmbH, Regensburg, international expert teams from five universities, four research institutes as well as five industrial partners try to make white light emitting diodes (LED) more economically, still more effectively and "more white".
